He was one of us.

As more details are released regarding David Carradine’s death it is looking more and more like he was one of us. Reports are conflicting whether or not his hands were tied behind his back. If they were, my personal theory is that he was not alone when he died. He very well may have hired a local Domme to come and have a session with him in his hotel room. Experienced or not breath play is not something even a healthy man should engage in, let alone a man who is 72 years old. My theory is that he had a heart attack and died while the session was going on. I sincerely hope the Domme (or Dom as the case may be) didn’t panic and thought to wipe all fingerprints from everything in the room, and had the good sense to exit the hotel through a side door and not the main entrance which was probably monitored by security cameras.

While his death during a session was most likely accidental the Domme/Dom could very well be charged with his death. The whole problem with breath play is that it is so extremely dangerous. There are other forms of “edge play” that are dangerous, but none quite as dangerous as breath play. I have read several online articles to try to understand better what happens to the body during breath play. The problem is not only does it deprive the brain of oxygen, but it also changes the PH level of the blood itself. It causes a chemical and hormonal imbalance in the brain, heart, and blood. It causes the heart to beat irregularly and finally to stop beating entirely. It is SOOOOO dangerous that I will not do breath play with anyone for any reason!

If you are someone who engages in breath play please stop. Find alternative ways to enhance your orgasms. If you absolutely can’t have orgasms any other way, I would advocate simply holding your breath as opposed to actually hanging yourself. If you pass out while hanging, or have a heart attack you WILL die. At least if you are simply holding your breath you always have the option to start breathing again. The problem is that even if you ARE simply holding your breath you could still have a heart attack and die.

I advocate BDSM activities that are SAFE, SANE, AND CONSENTUAL. Breath play is neither SAFE nor SANE. Please play safely!
